This program allows you to gain hands-on experience in constructing and shaping your own skateboard deck, designing and applying graffiti style graphics, exhibiting, marketing and selling your own products

•   Design and produce a logo, marketing materials, design and silk-screen a t-shirt
•   Meet with local innovative business leaders
•   Develop and carry out a fundraising campaign

Students will gain the expertise of artist/designer Nadé Nixon, local designers and innovative business leaders

Visual Design (Grade 11, Visual Art)

This course provides you with opportunities to develop and expand your creative skills and production practice abilities in applied arts and graphic design.  You’ll explore a variety of subject matter and explore a range of studio activities.  Projects will include logo design, t-shirt design and skateboard design. You’ll learn the process for developing an idea and refining your concept.  The history of art and design will also be covered.

The Enterprising Person (Grade 11, Business Studies)

This course offers the opportunity to learn what it takes to become an employer, and/or a better employee. You’ll become familiar with business on a local, national and international scale with regards to production practices and gain some skills that are necessary in order to run a business.  This course is offered in conjunction with a (Visual Arts) Design Course that ties together both your highly creative and analytical skills.  You’ll have an opportunity to demonstrate and develop enterprising skills by planning a fundraising event towards the end of this course.
